Tycoon Behind Kayole Demolitons Under Siege As Sonko Gives 14 Days Vacate Notice For His Marble Arc Hotel

The tycoon behind illegal demolitions in Kayole is a man under siege as Government agencies crack down on his properties in the City.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko just hours after he had announced that the government had stopped all demolitions countrywide went ahead and demolished the tycoon’s hotel parking lot and toilets.

On Thursday the Government announced the suspension of the demolitions countrywide, but Sonko in a viral video threatened the owner of Marble Arch Hotel Mike Maina, who he alleges used fake title deeds to get eviction notices from the courts to evict and demolish houses in Kayole estate.

On Thursday evening, county bulldozers ploughed into the toilets along with a pavement near the hotel, which according to Sonko, were built on land belonging to county’s, Fire Station.

The demolition came just hours after an audio of a telephone recording of a furious Governor Sonko hurling abuses at the tycoon went viral on social media.

But his troubles are far from over as the County moved in and marked the property illegal and demanded immediate vacation of the property.

Several sections of the property have been marked with the nefarious red X with today’s date 21st of December 2018 being the start of the 14 day countdown.

In the Enforcement letter from the County, it is cited that the hotel has been occupied without approval from the County and the developers are expected to provide verification including a valid occupation certificate.

In his phone call with the tycoon Mike Maina, the Governor alleged he had grabbed several county properties and made his own and that he had not sort prior approvals for the developments.

The developer would not sit happy as the County just recently demolished another hotel after the Courts agreed that it posed a security threat to the adjacent UN and US embassy properties.

Governor Sonko was furious with the developer after it was revealed he had used fake title deeds to procure Court Orders for demolition of properties on land that was not even his.
